Repairs
Rivington Guitars has both on- and off-site repair technicians ready to repair your guitar, amp, or keyboard. We do GREAT guitar set ups, the best in the city. You name it, we’ll fix it! Set ups for guitar or bass are $60. Additional repairs are assessed on a case by case basis. For amplifier, pedal, and keyboard repairs, there is a $25 estimate fee charged when repair is dropped off. This fee will be deducted from the final price of the repair.
Lessons
Rivington Guitars offers private guitar, bass guitar, piano, and general music instruction for all levels from beginning to advanced players. Our teachers are patient, knowledgeable, and they will
teach you what you want to learn! If you want to learn a Nirvana song, a Stones song, or a Who song, they will teach you. If you want to learn jazz improvisational techniques and music theory, they will teach you. You name it, we are ready to instruct and educate!
Lessons private and cost $30 for a 1/2 hour and $50 for one hour, and can be scheduled by simply calling the store at 212-505-5313. Payment must be made in advance.
Appraisals
Your guitar or bass is not only an instrument, it is an investment. Over the past several decades, the value of vintage guitars have outperformed the stock market, precious metals, and other collectibles.
A written appraisal from Rivington Guitars costs just $99 and will protect your investment by establishing the current market value of your instrument, valuable information for your insurance agent, banker, and most importantly your own peace of mind.
Howie Statland, the owner of Rivington Guitars and house appraiser has been selling vintage instruments for over 10 years, since 1998 when Rivington Guitars was established. He is also a featured survey participant for the Vintage Guitar Price Guide.
If you would like an appraisal, bring your guitar into the store so we can examine it in person. If you are unable to do this, we can do an appraisal through email photos or photos can be mailed to us.
To submit an appraisal via mail, please send to us the following:
- Clear color front and back photo prints of the instrument.
- Serial number and any other numbers, including the area where these numbers are found.
- Descriptions of any modifications/damage/repairs not visible in the photos.
- A list of any repairs that need to be done to the instrument.
- $99 per instrument (Made out to Howie Statland Guitars, Inc.)
- Mailing address, daytime phone number, and email address (if applicable).

Rentals
Do you need a guitar for the night? Do you need a bass amp or guitar amp? Rivington Guitars is the answer. We have specific amps and guitars and basses we have set aside specifically available for rental. Each instrument or amplifier is available for a $100/night rental fee. Instruments / amps can be delivered for an additional $100 delivery fee inside Manhattan.
All rentals must be purchased with a valid Visa/MC/AMX credit card and we will put a deposit on that card for the full amount of the instrument, returned when the instrument is returned to us in the condition it was rented.
